Default Armed Forces Expidionary metal

. I got one of these for Dominican Republic. Its a metal that is given for military serving in harms way other than major conflicts.

I got one"Armed Forces Expeditionary medal" while serving in Prince Sultan AB, KSA in the Summer of 1998.That was the time period Prez Clinton sent a few Cruise Missiles to Afghanistan and Sudan after the Embassy in Kenya got blown up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1998_U.S._embassy_bombings

Got that when the Ayotallah took our people and we went to the Indian Ocean to wait orders to take out the Iranian Navy. Also got the Nave Expenditonary Medal for the same thing.

Pretty cool guys. Ron, did you get your CIB for the DR, or Nam? I knew a few 82nd troopers that would wear a CIB with a star on their class A's or khakis because they were in both places. This wasn't authorized. You got 1 for one place or the other, not both.

Like I told you on the phone, Im not sure where the CIB came from, The DD 214 doesn't say, It could have been from DOM REP or VN it didn't matter to me.
The guys in the 82 nd were the best, The guys in the 25th and 4th were the best, The CIB was just a thing. Its the only thing other than the guys that I give a crap about in DOM REP or VN.
When I was with the 5th Mec at fort carson they made me put the CIB on my shirt , I had a choise of 4 patches to put on my right shoulder.

Went back to Nam my second tour just to get the CIB. Came back Nam my first tour MOS 11B with no CIB. Got mine with the 4th ID C-1/22 Inf.
