The Draft
Did everyone of relative age get a 'Draft letter'?
Did some people 'get away' with it because they had 'important' jobs or were 'students'. |

Re: The Draft
I avoided the draft by enlisting on my 17th birthday. 15 years later the
Draft Board wanted to know why I had never registered. Actually, I could have argued that I was never subject to Registration; having been in military service before the statutory age, and having been in Vietnam for 8 months before my 19th birthday. So...... at the age of 34, I was presented my first draft card, having never registered. I was classed 1-Y (sufficient prior service) So, in answer to your question: YES, it is possible to "get away with it". The hard part is to show a DD-214 as proof. The up-side is that you can be home in time to watch your neighborhood buddies sweat the draft. Re: The Draft
No, I ran away to Laos.
Who's going to look for a draft dodger in a war zone ? I burned my draft card there. "Boz" > Did everyone of relative age get a 'Draft letter'? > > Did some people 'get away' with it because they had 'important' jobs or were > 'students'. > > > > |
