Default River

I had an argument with some Marine on a Marine web site about a river just below Rt 9 , I said I road a Marine air boat on a river below RT 9 and he said there was no river just below rt 9. While doing some investigating I found this map and thought LT would want to see it.
I wasn't in any Lam 719 but by the looks of things, Im glade.

Default Ron, The map is

showing Laos and the SVN routes of attack in laos. Tchepone is the first vill on rt 9 inside of laos about 12 15 km as i recall maybe not that far. There was a river running just north of the runway in khe San and ran east then south below rt 9. I have a Khe San map I'll look.

Was the river closer to dong Ha or Khe San? There were several that ran south of rt 9

Cau Viet River ran from Danang to Dong Ha. Guy named Beau ran that route bringing ammo up. It ran on both sides of route 9 When we crossed going North the pucker factor went up a lot. Think that was at Cam Lo

I believe you are right about the first Vill into Laos. Tchepone.
How did you know that?

We were going to Hue from Lang Vei the first part of Feb 68 and we were way passed khe sahn headed toward RT 1, there was a river on our left , below RT9 .
The Marine I was talking to said that there was no river below Rt 9, Im sure he was talking about RIGHT below RT 9, cause there are lots of rivers below RT 9.

Default Was in Lam Son 719 with DMZ-LT

I had a 155 battery in Khe Sahn City and fired in that area all the time. I know most of that area from Khe Sahn back to Dong Ha quite well.
