Advocacy & Intelligence Index For POWs-MIAs Archives.
"If you are able, save for them a place inside of you and save one backward glance when you are
leaving for the places they can no longer go. Be not ashamed to say you loved them, though you may or may not have always. Take what they have left and what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own. And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle heroes you left behind." Major Michael O'Donnell, Jan. 1, 1970, Dak To, Vietnam. O'Donnell, a helicopter pilot, went Missing In Action on March 24, 1970, during a rescue attempt. His remains were returned in 1995, amd identified in 2001. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to the Advocacy & Intelligence Index For POWs-MIAs Archives. It's people like you who help the young understand our significant loss of life. We do love our fallen men and our men who survived fighting in war. It's a love and compassion you feel deep inside your being.
We cannot forget our missing men. I read an article not too long ago regarding MIA's in Vietnam. A team of Army Reservists were sent to Vietnam to recover skeletal remains of an American Pilot(s). They were tasked with the job of sifting through dirt in order to recover fragments of the pilots remains. Though, it was sad for us and their families, it also helped their families deal with closer. I don't think there is ever real closer to a loss of a loved one. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful message. |
