"Greater love has no man then this:"
"That he lay down his life for his friends"

Those words were chosen by my Best Buddy's Mother and Father when they buried my Best Buddy: HM3 Alan R. Gerrish.

Alan was a Navy Corpsman who gave up his life in an attempt to treat two wounded Marines. He died on September 7, 1968, just two days short of what would have been his twentieth birthday (September 9, 1968), and was Posthumously awarded the Navy Cross for his actions. His name appears on Panel #45 West--Last name on the right hand side of the column about three or four rows up from the bottom row. REST IN PEACE BUDDY

Every time I read, or hear, those words: I think of Alan and how he was always willing to help others.

But then again Alan was not a unique individual. ALL OTHER NAVY CORPSMEN and ARMY MEDICS also put the welfare of their wounded buddies before their own safety. God bless them all!!
