Thumbs up Good New Stories!

These recently showed up in the Albany Times Union. I thought I would share them with everyone.

Vietnam Vet Honored
Richard Dicaprio of Ballston Lake proudly carried the American flag through the streets of downtown Albany during this year's Veterans Day Parade,. It's been 37 years since he returned from duty in Vietnam, and now he's being honored for his sacrifice. Dicaprio served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. During that time, he was exposed to agent orange, a chemical sprayed by U.S. planes to remove leaves from trees. His exposure to the chemical resulting in prostate cancer, but that type of illness is not recognized by the government as combat related. While others received the Purple Heart for combat related injuries, people like Dicaprio were overlooked, until now, presented with the Silver Rose. The medal recognizes Dicaprio for the sacrifice he made in Vietnam, and the illness he is now suffering as a result.

Troy Street Renamed
A portion of Oakwood Avenue in Troy is now renamed 'O'Brien and Baker Highway.' A ceremony held Tuesday morning to dedicate the street to Colonel William O'Brien and Sargeant Thomas Baker, both from Rensselaer County. The two men lost their lives during World War II.

Default Question

Can someone tell me what the "Silver Rose" is? Did they mean to say, "Silver Cross"? Newspapers do try but when it comes to military stories they should leave it to the experts.
