Post Common Sense II

23 April 2006

?Common Sense II?

Although terse, it was tastefully put within the pages of the Washington Post today. The caustic language on the streets, however, as concerns the current state of social and economic affairs (especially as relates to fuel and fuel-related international wars), is much louder and fraught with justifiable anger!

There is a growing unrest and a mounting crescendo of perceived betrayal, perpetrated by various powers that be, political and economic alike. This has the potential (if not quickly rectified), to make the angry bonus marches of yore pale by comparison! Wide ranging impeachments and the total distrust of any party politics is no longer a vague potential, but rather a real possibility if things continue on unchecked and un-altered, in my humble, uneducated opinion?

While the well-healed, and ?Fatter Than Fat Cats? continue to financially sodomize the less fortunate and monetarily hurting within our bleeding society, a growing host of our own people may soon be suffering from the likes of starvation and lack of medical care or adequate housing. And this because they were forced to abandon other bare essentials of life in order to gas up their cars at some local petrol pirate! (Let them eat cake indeed?)

As an extremely wealthy ex-senator from California once put it - ?The poor don?t need fuel for their cars as they have no place to go anyway?? How true this may soon prove to be?

And yet, a few creatures of financial darkness, wanton murderers of their constitutional peers one and all, wield fuel, heating oil and lies as their primary weapons of choice. These me-ist predators care not for anyone or anything, save for themselves!

These are the soulless cretins, and greedy cads who continue to smirk and slobber, even in the face of our current national emergency! They are the eternal bonvivants who consider the destitute, the elderly, the working poor and financially tortured middle classes, to be something less than human and beneath their contempt! And through all of this and more, an uncaring few (foreign and domestic alike), continue to emulate the French elite prior to the turn of the nineteenth century!

?Seldom, in my opinion, have so many been bled to feed the lust and avarice of the soul and conscience-dead few! And never have so many refused to exercise their Constitutional and God-given mandate to lawfully protest and seek legal remedy while they still may have the power to do so!?

?How much wealth and power is enough?? That figure has not, and will never be arrived at for the monstrous few who demand adoration, along with our life's blood and last farthing!

Are truth, an open mind, and one's patriotic opinion, also to be considered politically incorrect or maybe even seditious? Even Thomas Jefferson and Abe Lincoln could have (once upon a time), been brought to bear using the liberty-slashing concepts contained within the (long abandoned) ?Alien and Sedition Act*!? And this for naught but truthfully speaking their minds!

It must also be realized, however, that those who have the elected mandate and accompanying power to legally rectify this current fuel insanity are doing virtually nothing, and this while Rome burns anew!
-----------------------------------------------

* ?I hold it, that a little rebellion, now and then, is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical.? (Tom Jefferson, 1787)

?This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, etc.? (Abraham Lincoln, 1861)

?It is one thing to show a man that he is in an error, and another to put him in possession of truth! No matter who rules, the people should have the final say about the government!? (John Locke, 1632-1704, Political Philosopher, and the man who's ideas Jefferson often quoted in penning the Declaration of Independence. Locke was also referred to as the ?Intellectual Ruler of the Eighteenth Century....?)

The above sayings are, of course, not my words, suggestions or necessarily even my exact thoughts, but rather those of men far greater, more patriotic and even wiser in many cases, than a few of those who are now dictating a vested economic policy in our own midst!!

"...belongs to the people whom inhabit it".
That's just no longer so,...if such truly ever was?
Sorry Mr. Jefferson.

Hell Rick,...WHAT HAPPENED?
This Country basically got started due the discontent of being taxed by our lordly rulers for 1/2 CENT on a dollar (re. Boston Tea Party). Guess all Americans must be quite content nowadays?

Or, and more likely, must be that America's Lords of today are much better at controlling and ruling their Subjects,...than were The British Lords of long ago? What else could it be, my Friend? Most Americans still have guts.

Still, and in fairness to The Brits, they didn't have the great luxury of dividing We The People by politics,...and thus making us more malleable, manageable, and much easier to control and rule.

Most people have no problem with the rule of elected government. Government is, or should be an extension of the people's will (Famous last words)!!!!

When, however, some in government lose sight of whom it is that put them where they are, what they are there to do, and what nation they represent, then there in lies the rub!

Further, and as far as possible, all citizens must share equally in responsibility, sacrifice and duty! This idea, as you so wisely pointed out, is (unfortunately) as archaic to the pampered few these days as is equal rights and honesty!

Can't disagree with most everything
that you've stated.

However,...certainly have to disagree with
that: "SOME in government lose sight of........." bit.

My experiences and most daily witnessed in the
press/media, are that MOST in government lose
sight of whom put them where they are, and
additionally why people hired them in the first place.

Campaign bull or lying on ones job application
doesn't take very long discovering amongst the
career ruling elite and/or the political power and
control breed. They perpetually expose themselves
in usually a quite sanctimonious and lordly fashion,...
for what they truly intend and have always intended.

And besides,...ever hear of anyone calling career
politicians: "Career Representatives",...anyway?
That would be as good of a joke as when many such
non-productive types call themselves: "Public Servants"
and sacrificing good careers to instead go into Public
Service, so as to better Serve The Public.

Yeah, sure,...and I'm The Tooth Fairy of Iran.
