Good pics....A couple of years ago I had the opportunity to sit in on the flash-over room during a training excersize......I was ready to bail out when that ball of fire came rolling over my head

Great pics. Where do you go from here?
Here's a hotel on wheels. No body wants to get out of it and fight the fire.

Bob the rollover was the weirdest thing in the fire rooms. The first time we went in was without SCBA to familiarize ourselves with the layout. In the bedroom prop they lit the fire up and it got hot fast. They then fired up the rollover and when that flame came overhead I started getting the idea that sitting in that room without gear was not such a good idea. Seriously wondered if it was much better of an idea with SCBA
Steve we are pulling shift now on probation. We will be heading off to EMT school next in late February. That is a nice apparatus pictured there. Is that a rescue unit? We have a new Darley engine in our District. It has a huge extended bumper out front much like that apparatus. I was able to take it through the obstacle course a couple weeks ago and it drives very nice. We ran the course in an elementary school parking lot. It was funny to watch the expressions on the peoples face who left their car next to the figure eight course as we backed the Darley through it right next to their car |

David,
Yes it is a rescue. We respond to almost 20 miles of interstate, and have a limited number of firefighter/rescue responders as it is a volunteer dept. A 10 man cab with 8 SCBA capability. It has a 40,000 btu/600CFM AC unit in the cab. Designed as both a rescue and an initial response vehicle, it has a 1500 GPM rear mount pump, with a 2000 gallon tank, 2-30 gal. foam tanks, 1200' of 4" supply hose. It has the Jaws hydraulic system, and a 15kw generator. It took nearly three years for the department to design it to their specs and has 54 pages of spec information Your driving. It's a sweet feeling when you pull off the near, or what most people consider impossible, feat. As you just look at them and smile
