Default Vietnam War

I was looking at my VA calendar, and it says that on March 2, 1965, the Vietanm War began for the United States. I think it was earlier wasn't it, when some advisors were killed much earlier than that. This month also marks a anniversay sorts for me. I got to Vietnam My second tour in March 1969, and caught the last week of operation Wayne Grey in the Play trap valley. After talking to some of the Special Forces team in the area, I found out why they called it the Valley of Tears. In the first two weeks of Wayne Grey the 4th ID suffered over 170 KIA and numerous WIA. The Plei Trap Valley was crawling with NVA, and weren't in the mood to give it up. 1/22 inf, 3/8 inf, 1/8, inf, 3/12 inf all saw action during Wayne Grey. 3/8inf bailed us out after our recon team walked upon a NVA base camp, we were mortared on, 122 mm rocketed, B-40 rockets, AK-47, and 51 cal machine gun on by the NVA. My company lost 15 KIA and 12 WIA. That was just in the 1 week that I was invloved in Wayne Grey. The units before I got there suffered over 170 KIA, and way to many WIA. Won't forget this fight for as long as I live. Realized now I should have posted this in Vietnam Forum. Sorry.

Usually when you run into 120mm mortars and lots of 51 cal's you have run up on an NVA Division

I found this data on Viet Nam - Vietnam_War Vietnam_War
Outlines much of the issues relating to and getting into the Viet Nam conflict.

I go there in May of 65 and then again in Jan of 67. It was winding up during that period - after which it got much worse as many of you can relate to.
