Lightbulb A Memorial Day Reminder

On May 31 we pay tribute to an army of patriotic Americans who gave their all for God and Country! Many of us, however, have forgotten, or did not know, that this solemn day originally came about as a way of honoring those who perished in our own American Civil War. "A war that saw about one million men killed or wounded in a conflict that pitted brother against brother...."

In about four to five days, Congressman Filner of California will introduce a "Bill" before the House of Representatives that will finally honor those who died while in captivity (POWs).

This Bill (HR 4425) will be presented before the "108th Congress of the United States!" This will (I hope), be done in a bi-partisan manner, to attain the "Purple Heart Medal" for those forgotten souls (forgotten no more) who died from starvation, neglect, beatings, disease etc., while POWs, starting with that ?Date of Infamy" - 7 December 1941.

It is unfathomable to even think for a moment that ?Any Member of Our Government? could vote against this Bill, especially in light of the fact that those brave men and women who expired in enemy captivity can no longer speak out for themselves! "It is, therefore, for us (the living) to speak out in unison for them!!" To shout aloud that - ?These Honored Dead Shall Not Have Died In Vain, Nor Will They Be Forgotten!!"

In just a few short days, our elected government will be offered the opportunity to rectify this wrong by voting in favor of HR 4425 (108 th Congress). This posthumous show of respect, although it will be carried upon C-Span I am told, will not bring back our fallen Comrades of wars past. Those who gave their last full measure of patriotism, while being held captives by a brutal enemy. It will, however, tell generations of Americans yet to be born, that our honor and undying love for these fallen patriots shall never cease to exist upon the face of this land!

Again, this Bill, entitled ?HONORING OUR FALLEN PRISONERS OF WAR ACT (HR 4425)? is scheduled to be introduced on June 2nd, or 3rd by Congressman Filner, before the full House. And how our law makers vote upon this important piece of legislation, will tell the entire nation (indeed the entire world), how they themselves really feel about these ?Fallen American Heroes? and indeed, the nation itself! For without the dedication and un-flinching courage of those who?s unselfish efforts helped to secure our freedoms, our government itself could not function or exist!!

As I said above, this Bill (HR4425) should be presented on C-Span as well as on the House Floor on June 2 or 3! "This is one small step for over-due justice, and one giant leap into honor!"
