LT, Sid...did either of you catch this story in your paper? This is so dumb I just had to post it here. Not sure if I should feel bad for this guy or just shoot him, what are your thoughts?

From the Atlanta Journal Constitution on-line edition/AJC.com

PRAGUE ? A 32-year-old Czech tried to commit suicide by cutting his throat with a chain saw but survived after the machine missed his jugular artery and got stuck in his spine, a report said Wednesday.

This was his second suicide attempt, CTK news agency reported. He had earlier tried to hang himself from a tree branch but the branch snapped and he broke both legs in the fall, it said.

The man was taken to a Prague hospital and was recovering in an intensive care unit, hospital officials said.

Will do!!! Tell him the pigs are really Iraqi terrorist and see if that helps! Was looking forward to tasting wild hog. Don't have any up here, they would never make it through the snow on an average year.

Post I had a medic call

Many years ago when working as a civilian medic we had a call for a logger who accidently cut his throat on a chain saw. The chain saw had jumped on him cut him from ear to ear. By the time we got there he was long dead. He was working alone so his crew didn't find him until the chain saw ran out of gas. I asked the loggers why they called 911 when they should have called the corner. "We didn't know if he was dead." Of course there was no carotid arteries to check a pulse so they couldn't figure it out.

How do you get it stuck in the spine and miss the carotids?

One lucky or unlucky guy.

Keith...spent 8 years as a firefighter/emt...only had one chainsaw call and that was to a lower leg....seems he was cutting a small log and holding it with his foot, log rolled chainsaw jumped. Can not imagine seeing a chainsaw to the throat injury...guess that is were the saying loosing your head comes from!!!!

It wasn't all that gory.
He had set saw down and started to walk back to his truck. Made about ten steps and fell in a bunch of saw dust. Hardly any blood but underneath the saw dust (chips) there was a lot of blood. He was lying face down. Certainly wasn't the worst I've ever seen. When working as a medic we covered a big logging area, I saw lots of thigh cuts and leg cuts but only this one to upper body.

Somebody needs to loan that czech guy a pistol and a bull...make that a box of ammo.

Worked on a guy whose chainsaw jumped back into his face.Pretty much wrecked his jaw, mouth, nose and forehead.
