Got Your Back
"Got Your Back"
I am a small and precious child, my daddy's been sent to fight.... The only place I'll see his face, is in my dreams at night. He will be gone too many days for my young mind to keep track. I may be sad, but I am proud. My daddy's got your back.... I am a caring mother, My son has gone to war.... My mind is filled with worries that I have never known before. Everyday I try to keep my thoughts from turning black. I may be scared, but I am proud. My son has got your back.... I am a strong and loving wife, with a husband soon to go. There are times I'm terrified in a way most never know. I bite my lip, and force a smile as I watch my husband pack, My heart may break, but I am proud. My husband's got your back.... I am a soldier.... Serving proudly, standing tall. I fight for freedom, yours and mine by answering this call. I do my job while knowing, the thanks it sometimes lacks. Say a prayer that I'll come home. It's me who's got your back. ~Author unknown~ Please keep our brave troops in your prayers. No matter what you think of what is happening in the world right now, remember that they didn't ask for any of it to happen. They didn't ask to miss holidays, birthdays or any special moments with their family & friends but are willing, in order to protect us & our freedom. ~*~SUPPORT OUR TROOPS~*~

Dennis,
What a powerfull poem. I really like that and appreciate you sharing that with us all. I've spent many holidays away from home during VN and know how important family and friends support means. One of my old girlfriends couldn't understand why we had to go to VN and didn't believe in the cause or the loss of life that took place. She quit writing me during that time and the entire crew of guys (my brother's) supported me during that ordeal. Coming back home changed me and my association with my old friends they looked at me through another light. I no longer fit in with them - I guess I had changed - and I know for the better. We learn many lessons in our lives and being a veteran was one of the best moves I made. I felt that I meant something and that I owed my country something too. So I enlisted and gave my country 12 years. I came back many did not. To this I carry their torch and their message all my remaining days. We vets are also watching other vets backs all the time. It's engrained into our character we are all brother's we are Americans. Thanks again Dennis - Support the troops and give them a big welcome when they come home. Best Regards,

Young Marine talking to a reporter about a fire fight they had yesterday where they killed a dozen. It was his birthday. I got his slack forever , he is my brother.
