Default Free advise

The most recent fire deaths made me think of you guys.
So hear is a little advise and some information.
1.When you and your family find yourself in an emergency situation and there are people inbetween you and the exit, those people become your MORTAL enemy. They stand between you dieing and living.
2. Of all the home fire fatalities I have wittnessed, no one was lost in a house that had a working smoke detector in it.
3. when you go into a restrant, look for a exit that you didn't come in. And then go look at the exit, some time they have them chained shut.
4. When you are in a hotel, count the number of doors from your room to the nearest exit, You may not be able to see when you need an exit but you can feel.
5. use the exit at least one time, just to see for yourself .

You most likely will never need this information, but

Ron

Ron...great advice, the only thing I can think of adding is if you are at a hotel, stay as close to the ground floor as possible. Aerials only reach the first five to seven floors and if you have to use a stairwell to escape, you are basically running down a chimney.

Reminded me to check all of the smoke alarms and replace all batteries.

I don't know what your citys ordenences are but in my city all stairwells have to be pressureized. If you make it to a stairwell youve made to fresh air.
I guess I shouldn't generalize as to what other citys do because of what the city I live in does.

In this area, they are doing that to the newer buildings, but the older ones have been "grandfathered" and do not have to meet the new codes. Must have been a real smart man to get that law passed.

Above all do not panic!!!! File out the EXITs in an orderly manor!!!!
If your in a hotel soak a large towel in water ring it out & bring it with you on top of your head.
