Thanks for the welcome. I was with the 1/5 March 69 till Feb 70, then went to 3rd Field in Saigon until Nov 70.

Mortardude, I wasn't lucking enough to make the "Incursion". We did go in several times in '69 (don't tell anybody, I'll swear it is a lie) setting and picking up motion sensors just south of the Angel Wing.

I have the book Stolen Valor. I have mixed feelings about the book. The author, Burkett, does expose a lot of wannabes and he has a good point about the popular media accepting someone's claim to be a Vietnam combat vet without any checking. He does admit that he himself did not see combat, but served a staff position with the 199th Bde. in Vietnam, though he claims a Chinook in which he was a passenger, once dropped down into enemy firing range to provide supporting fire for a unit on the ground.

With this background, he thinks PTSD vets are maligerers trying to rip off the VA, he thinks the whole Agent Orange fiasco is another scam to rip off the VA, and he believes only those with a right wing interpretation of the Vietnam War are "legitimate vets" worthy of recognition.
