Blue Angles
As I sit here munching lunch, I am listening to the Blue Angles flying overhead practicing for tomorrow show for MCAS Beaufort, MCRD, PI, and the Naval Hospital employees. Saturday and Sunday is the free/open to public Air Show at MCAS. If you've never seen the Blue Angles in action, and all the other cool stuff they have there, take a ride to Beaufort, SC Saturday or Sunday and watch these great guys perform. I won't be there, have seen the show probably 15 times, but definately worth the drive if you haven't. MAN IS IT LOUD AROUND HERE! THE NOISE I HEAR IS THE SOUND OF FREEDOM!
Anybody need directions, let me know. Pack

That isn't noise, it's MUSIC!

Hawk,
When Babs Streisand was here filming "Prince of Tides" she called the Air Station demanding they stop flying the F-18's as the "noise" was bothering her. The CO told her, "The Noise you hear is the sound of Freedom", they will continue to fly. He then had Public Works post that saying at the gate. 4 of them in tight formation just buzzed our home. If I would have been on the roof, I could have almost touched them. Beautiful! Pack

When in the land of OZ, I was standing on top of this mountain, Hill 488, I had called for fast movers with jelly. I got a call from one of them to tell me to pop some smoke, that he was less than a min. out. I popped smoke and looked around , couldn't see any stinking airo planes. all of a sudden two F4 Phantoms came from behind me with their after burners light and when they passed me they went vertical. The earth shook and they were out of sight. I think they asked what direction from smoke did I want the jelly, At least that is what I answered to him. They swung down threw the valley one behind and off to the left of the front guy and they released. I was about 1/2 mile away and could feel the heat, That stuff is nasty.
Jets with orange flame out the back is a very cool thing to see. Oh yea, when they came over me, we made eye contact, thats how close they were. Ron |

ANYTIME !!!!!
You get close air support, is great!!!! With one exception, and that's when we were running a ridge-line, and all of a sudden there was nothing but white smoke that enveloped all of us. Some village idiot fired two rockets at us which hit on each side of our trail. Only one person was affected and he lost a small fraction of the tip of his little finger, so less that the corpsmen put a small bandage on it. Out came the air-panels, and when he made another pass, it was so damn high that every gun that was turned on him wouldn't have made it, and he had the audacity to wag his wings on the second pass, WAY UP HIGH!!!!
Other close air support sure made it easier for us to take whatever the next objective was, OR kept the gooks from getting too close!!

Paco.......Watched the Blue Angels twice so far when they was at Callender Fields Naval Air Base outside New Orleans in Belle Chasse. They're fantastic to witness in action.

Kath and I have been fortunate enough to see them perform several times over the years. Makes you burst with pride as the noise shakes you to your soul.
This was last year in OCT during Fleet Week on S. F. Bay. We were watching from Aquatic Park, west of Fisherman's Wharf.
