Battle between the USS Co
Battle between the USS Constitution and HMS Guerriere on August 19, 1812 off the coast of Nova Scotia. Here the Boston-built frigate, one of the first six ships in the new US Navy, received her nickname "Old Ironsides" when her oak hull appeared to repel canon fire. She never lost any of more than 40 sea battles.

U.S. Navy SEALs (Sea, Air
U.S. Navy SEALs (Sea, Air, Land) explored 70 caves in the Zawar Kili area of eastern Afghanistan. Construction of the caves varied widely and included brick (as seen here), earth, concrete, steel and various combinations. Used by Al Qaeda and Taliban forces, the caves and other above-ground complexes were subsequently destroyed either by Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel or through air strikes called in by the SEALs. Navy special operations forces are conducting missions in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Photo by U.S. Navy
