An F/A 18 Hornet takes off of the deck of USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) to conduct a mission over Iraq. Truman and Carrier Air Wing Three (CVW 3) are currently on a six-month deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The first Tomahawk missile to be fired into Iraq is launched from USS BUNKER HILL (CG 52) at 0525 on March 20, 2003. HILL is currently forward deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of ongoing operations against Iraq.

NORTH ARABIAN GULF - In the beginings of the what is known as the Amphibious Task Force West offload - formally known as part of Commander, Task Group 51.6, the USS Comstock (LSD-45) sails out of an early afternoon rain shower here. The Comstock is one of seven San Diego based ships that have deployed in support of future operations in the Central Command area of responsibility.

CAMP PATRIOT, KUWAIT - In the beginings of the what is known as the Amphibious Task Force West offload - formally known as part of Commander, Task Group 51.6, an early morning landing from a Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) marks the start of a very busy week for the over 4000 Sailors and Marines involved from the sea and ashore here. The seven San Diego based ships that have deployed in support of future operations in the Central Command area of responsibility, will offload equipment and men belonging to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Battalion from Camp Pendleton, Calif.
