With Japan's famous Mt. Fuji as a backdrop, Strike Fighter Squadron One Ninety Two (VFA-192) is one of the first squadrons commemorating the F/A-18 program?s five millionth flight hour. The Hornet, an all-weather aircraft, is used as an attack aircraft as well as a fighter. In its fighter mode, the F/A-18 is used primarily as a fighter escort and for fleet air defense; in its attack mode, it is used for force projection, interdiction and close and deep air support. VFA-192 is embarked aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). U.S. Navy photo by Lt. Cmdr. William Koyama.
