USS Charles Mann, a 79 gross ton harbor tug, was built in 1903 at South Portland, Maine, for civilian use. Purchased by the Navy and placed in commission in June 1917, she performed patrol and towing duties in the vicinity of Boston, Massachusetts, during World War I and later. Charles Mann was decommissioned in November 1919 and sold in February 1920.
