Ware, suffered a similar fate when his helicopter was shot down on September 13. Maj. Gen. Ware was one of two U.S. division commanders killed during the war; the other was Maj. Gen. George W. Casey of the 1st Cavalry Division who was killed in a helicopter crash on July 7, 1970.
