Korean War
Haven't had much time to write as we have been on the move pretty much lately. We had pushed up twelve miles north of the 38th parallel. Got hit up there by the gooks about four days ago. I guess our lines held pretty strong, but the ROK's caved in on our right flank and the army pulled out on our left.
Sort of left us alone up there so we really had to move out fast. The gooks had come as close as the hills on our supply route and everybody, gooks and all, fought to hold em off while they pulled the line companies out.
Sure hurt to give all those hills that we'd crawled over about two weeks before but sure didn't argue to stick around there then. Last night the trucks picked us up and so now we are down pretty far. Just sitting around now, the whole reg. Do not know if we are in reserve or not.
Hope they hold up on our flanks now. Guess the line can hold pretty well at the parallel.
Received a pkg. from home with the wallet and candy. Glad to get it and the pictures. Am sending you Korean money in return for the 44 in the wallet. Got two pkgs. from Jean. They came through on a day when we couldn't get chow up by the Pumcham river. Had many firends that day.
Been hearing lots about U.S.M.C. rotation, should be out by 1952 at least. Guess I'll just miss another football season, I'll be an old man if I go back to school.
