USS Aurore II, a 96-foot section patrol boat, was built at Stamford, Connecticut, in 1916 as a gasoline engine powered pleasure craft. Purchased by the Navy for World War I service, she was placed in commission in October 1917 and thereafter employed on patrol, dispatch and passenger duties in the Delaware Bay area. Renamed SP-460 in April 1918, she was decommissioned in August 1919 and sold in September of that year.
