USS Talbot, a 46-ton torpedo boat built at Bristol, Rhode Island, was commissioned in April 1898. During the Spanish-American War, she served along the U.S. east coast and off Cuba. Postwar, she was assigned to the Reserve Torpedo Flotilla, as well as to several naval stations for special duties.

Found to be unfit for active service in 1912, Talbot was retained as a ferryboat operating between Washington, D.C., and Indian Head, Maryland. She was renamed Berceau in 1918 and designated YFB-3 in 1920, remaining on ferry duty for another two decades. She was placed out of service in June 1940 and sold for scrapping in July 1944.
