USS Celtic, a 6750-ton storeship, was built at Belfast, Ireland, in 1891 as the merchant ship Celtic King. Purchased during the Spanish-American War, she carried provisions and other supplies to U.S. Navy units in the Cuban area. For many years after 1898, she served in Asiatic waters, the Atlantic and in the Caribbean area.

During World War I, Celtic supplied forces in Europe as well as off Central America. In 1919, she transferred to the Pacific, and became station ship at Guam in 1921. Decommissioned a year later, she was sold in January 1923.
