USS LST-735, a 2366-ton LST-511 class tank landing ship, was built at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Commissioned in April 1944, her wartime service was performed in the Pacific, where she participated in operations to capture the Marianas, Luzon and Okinawa. She decommissioned in March 1946.

LST-735 recommissioned in November 1950. In July 1951, she became a support ship for minesweepers. In this role, she made a Korean War deployment in 1952-53 and had additional Western Pacific tours in 1953-54 and 1955-56. Renamed Dukes County (LST-735) in July 1955, she was leased to the Republic of China Navy in May 1957 and sold to that service in 1974. She has been part of the ROC Navy ever since, originally under the name Chung Hai and later as Kao Hsiung.
