USS LST-742, a 2366-ton LST-511 class tank landing ship, was built at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Commissioned in May 1944, her wartime service was mainly spent in the Philippines and East Indies. During January-May 1945, LST-511 participated in the Lingayan Gulf, Visayas and Tarakan operations. She decommissioned in April 1946 and was transferred to the U.S. Army a few months later.

In August 1950 LST-742 recommissioned as a U.S. Navy ship. She was active in Korean War operations and remained in service with the Pacific fleet after that conflict ended in 1953. Renamed Dunn County in July 1955, she decommissioned for the last time in February 1961 and was sold for scrapping in September of that year.
