USS Massasoit, a 202-ton harbor tug, was built at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1898 as the civilian tug A.W. Booth. She was acquired by the Navy in April of that year as part of the Spanish-American War expansion and was placed in commission in June 1898. Massasoit was based at Key West, Florida, during the last weeks of the war, then had duty at the Philadelphia Navy Yard until early 1899, when she returned to Key West Naval Station for a dozen years of local service.

From 1912 into 1931 Massasoit was assigned to the Norfolk Navy Yard, Virginia, and the Fifth Naval District. She was given the hull number YT-15 in 1920. Decommissioned in February 1931 and later towed to Philadelphia, she remained inactive until sold in 1937.
