Politesse, 30-foot motor boat, was constructed in 1911 at Waltham, Massachusetts, as a pleasure craft. She was chartered by the Navy for World War I service in April 1917 and subsequently served as USS Politesse (SP-662) on section patrol duties in the Boston area. The boat was returned to her owner in late May 1919.
