USAT McClellan was originally the British merchant steamer Port Victor, built in 1885. The Army acquired her in 1898, at the time of the Spanish-American War. She served for more than two decades as an Army transport, including operations in European waters during World War I. In 1918, the Navy was authorized to take her over, but this was not done. McClellan was sold by the Army in 1919. Entering commerical service under the name Hastler, she burned at Antwerp, Belgium, in 1920 and was sold for scrapping in 1922.
