Dunderberg, a 7060-ton casemate ironclad ram, was built at New York City beginning in 1862. Launched in July 1865, she was not formally taken over by the Navy, which had little need for her after the end of the Civil War. She was legally returned to her builder in 1867 and was soon sold to France. Renamed Rochambeau by the French Navy, the ship had relatively brief service and was broken up in 1874.
