Syros, a 2366-ton tank landing ship, was originally the USS LST-325, built in 1944. Transferred to Greece in May 1964, she operated in that nation's navy for more than three decades. Syros left active service in the later 1990s and was turned over to an American LST memorial group in the year 2000.
