Latin American Campaigns

In response to internal upheaval and European threats of intervention relating to international debts, the US Navy and Marines intervened to establish political and economic stability in Latin America during the first two decades of the 20th century.

Cuban Pacification Campaign

From September 1906 to 23 January 23 1909 US forces sought to restore order, protect foreigners, and establish a stable government after serious revolutionary activity. In 1917 US forces protected American interests during insurrection and subsequent unsettled conditions. Most of the United States armed forces left Cuba by August 1919, but two companies remained at Camaguey until February 1922.

Haitian Campaign

Beginning on 28 July 1915 [and eventually continuing to 15 August 1934], US forces maintained order during a period of chronic and threatened insurrection.

Dominican Campaign

From May 1916 to September 1924 American naval forces maintained order during a period of chronic and threatened insurrection.
