Activated 22 September 1947 at Newark, New Jersey

(Organized Reserves redesignated 25 March 1948 as the Organized Reserve Corps; redesignated 9 July 1952 as the Army Reserve)

Inactivated 6 May 1952 at Newark, New Jersey

Redesignated 18 April 1967 as the 418th Transportation Company; concurrently withdrawn from the Army Reserve and allotted to the Regular Army

1942: A British ship, the HMS Capbeltown, a Lend-Lease American destroyer, which was specifically rammed into a German occupied dry-dock in France, explodes, knocking the area out of action for the German battleship Tirpitz.
