Constituted 26 November 1943 in the Army of the United States as the 3634th Quartermaster Truck Company

Activated 10 December 1943 in Tunisia

Inactivated 11 February 1946 at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey

Converted and redesignated 1 August 1946 as the 3634th Transportation Corps Truck Company

Redesignated 16 May 1948 as the 639th Transportation Truck Company and allotted to the Organized Reserve Corps

Activated 8 June 1948 at Kingsport, Tennessee

Reorganized and redesignated 1 February 1950 as the 639th Transportation Heavy Truck Company

(Organized Reserve Corps redesignated 9 July 1952 as the Army Reserve)

Reorganized and redesignated 30 April 1953 as the 639th Transportation Company

Ordered into active military service 1 October 1961 at Kingsport, Tennessee; released 4 August 1962 from active military service and reverted to reserve status

Ordered into active military service 17 November 1990 at Kingsport, Tennessee; released 5 July 1991 from active military service and reverted to reserve status
