Operation Ivy Lightning was designed to strike the towns of Ain Lalin and Quara Tapa in an effort to capture former regime loyalists and other enemy forces. Participating in the raid on August 12, 2003 was the 4th Infantry Division and Task Force Ironhorse. The combined power of attack aviation, armor, and mechanized infantry helped coalition forces carry out their mission in this region, 80 miles north of Baghdad.
Lieutenant Colonel Bill MacDonald of the 4th Infantry Division revealed that the raids resulted in the capture of two suspects and some minor weapons caches. |
