In addition to Operation Iron Grip, soldiers of the 1st Armored Division launched Operation Iron Force. Operation Iron Force's objective was to capture or eliminate any rebel forces in Baghdad seeking to capitalize on the holiday season to attack coalition forces. The 1st Armored Division recieved airstrike support on suspected rebel hideouts during this operation.
