The King Abdul Aziz Brigade (KAAB) is located within the Eastern Region but is under the command and control of SANG Headquarters in Riyadh. The brigade is stationed in Hofuf, approximately 130 kilometers southeast of the coastal city complex of Dammam-Al Khobar-Dhahran. Also referred to as the 2nd Brigade, the unit consists of three combined arms battalions; the 2nd Artillery Battalion, the 2nd Logistics Support Battalion, the 2nd Engineer Company, and the 2d Signal Company. The brigade is equipped with the V-150.

During Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, the KAAB was deployed to the Eastern Region area of responsibility (AOR). They participated in the defense of the Kingdom and counterattacked with US and other coalition forces to recapture the city of Al-Khafji from Iraqi forces. The KAAB is the only SANG unit to have been deployed as a unit in actual combat against an enemy. As a result of their role, the advisory effort increased substantially. In 1991, full time advisors were assigned.

All KAAB advisors live on the Nada Dairy Farm, a 1,000 acre farm outside of Hofuf. The two and three bedroom detached villas were either remodeled or built new in 1994, and all are fully furnished to include central heating/air conditioning, wall to wall carpeting, modern kitchens, drapes, and a color television connected to a compound satellite and in-house television system.

The compound is also shared by Vinnell and Farm employees.

The compound has a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool, tennis court, fitness center, snack bar and recreations center. Completely fenced, the farm has miles of running area which pass through several hundred acres of pasture and lime orchards. A small petting zoo has horses, camels, sheep, reindeer, antelope, rabbits, and various types of fowl. KAAB advisory team members do the majority of their shopping on the local economy. AAFES/Commissary/APO and check cashing facilities are located in Riyadh. Hofuf boasts interesting souqs and an extensive network of stores. Hofuf is well situated to get away from the city and see the country. Half Moon Bay, where USMTM maintains a beach recreation area, is close enough for morning beach trips, and the Dhahran-Khobar-Dammam complex is one and a half hours away. Bahrain and Qatar are two hours away and Riyadh is two and a half hours by train or four hours by car.
