EASY COMPANY - 180th INFANTRY, 45th Infantry Division  Popular

A National Guard Div from Oklahoma, the 45th US Div was called into active service on 1 Sep 1950. It received fillers and began an intensive training program on 6 Nov 1950 at Camp Polk, LA. Under the command of Brig Gen James C. Styron since activation, the Div arrived overseas in April 1951 with the dual mission of providing security for Hokkaido, Japan, and completing its training. On 18 Nov, the Div was alerted for movement to Korea.

The founder is Hal Barker, a photojournalist, writer, designer/inventor/journeyman carpenter, a graduate of North Carolina State University in History, and founder of the Korean War Veterans Memorial Trust Fund in Washington, D.C., administered by the American Battle Monuments Commission. We have been online since February 1995, providing a service to veterans, families, researchers, and students of military history.

1775: The American Revolution begins as fighting breaks out at Lexington, Massachusetts.

1861: Residents of Baltimore, Maryland, attack a Union regiment while the group makes its way to Washington.

1861: President Lincoln orders a blockade of Confederate ports.

1927: In China, Hankow communists declare war on Chiang Kai-shek.

1938: General Francisco Franco declares victory in the Spanish Civil War.

1943: Waffen SS attack Jewish resistance in the Warsaw ghetto putting down the uprising.

1951: I and IX Corps reached the Utah Line, south of the Iron Triangle.

1951: General MacArthur denounced the Truman Administration before a joint session of Congress for refusing to lift restrictions on the scope of the war.
