An International Elba?!

?AN INTERNATIONAL ELBA?!?

The Isle of Elba, the largest island of the Tuscan Archipelago (86 square miles), was used to imprison Napoleon Bonaparte in 1814/1815!

Congressman Porter Goss (Florida), in an interview on Fox News Sunday, brought forth an interesting idea that just might be worthy of consideration! Goss said that maybe the world should imprison the likes of Saddam Hussein, Milosovich, bin Laden, Arafat, Noriega and other ?Malignant, World-Class Dregs of Humanity?, in a single, isolated facility! One on the order of Alcatraz or Devil?s Island, in which these insane thugs can be completely contained and controlled. A facility that, unlike Napoleon at Elba, is escape-proof and patrolled, like the prison that housed Rudolf Hess, by an international contingent of military police!

Might I suggest a sizable dome-like environment deep within the Amazon or Antarctica, with half-way decent cells, environmental controls, medical help to keep these cretons alive and mentally suffering as long as possible, and even closed circuit TVs.

Now here is the kicker: ?Only one bath a month allowed, no contact amongst the inmates, no toilet facilities - save for one corner of their cell, hosed out daily by the prisoner him (or herself), and 16 full hours a day of watching the United Nations (live and on tape), as well as foreign language (not their language however) - Monte Python reruns over closed-circuit TV!

The food would consist of K-Rations (twice a day), and the walls would be made of transparent jet age plastic so that the prisoner could view the hostile outside world, and it him! Sought of like a zoo in reverse, in which these enemies of mankind would be on permanent display (24/7) via satellite television to the world!

Naw, this would never work as the SPCA would never allow it! Not for the sake of the prisoners mind you, but rather to prevent cruel and unusual punishment to the animals on the outside looking in!

Besides a gulag (prison) of this nature could present one helluva environmental hazard. ?Just think of all of that pollution concentrated in but a single place!!?

would be the problem: Saddam and bin Laden would need warm areas while Milosevic would need a cooler climate and where would we find all the rotting corpses for these A-holes to live with?
But, you seem much kinder than I feel toward them; K-rats? A solid diet of Ham and' muthers and why clean the cages?
As for Arafat. it seems a toss up as to who gets him - the Israelis or his buddies (my money is on the Israelis). Should the situation arise, a HOT desert climate, one canteen a day, and two bad-tempered camels for company.
It will NEVER happen, thank God or Whoever, because gulags are the invention of dictataors - wait, uh 1942. So maybe we should watch our "Justice Department" a little closer, hmmm?
