Default colorado teacher , Hitler/Bush

The students in that high school staged a walkout in support for the teacher that compared Bush to Hitler in a Geography class.
Now for the most part a student is a captive audience and a high school student is also naive. What business does a Geography teacher have teaching student something other than Geography.
For all those students that walked out, There parents should get a bill from the school. Public schools get money from the state based on each student that attended a day or 1/2 day of school, that?s why they take roll. The school lost the money they would have gotten if the students wouldn't have walked out, The parents are responsible for there kids, so pay up sucker. Oh yea your kid doesn?t get back in school until its paid. This isn?t college, its high school. you can't do that in high school.

Great Moments in Public Education
"An Overland High School teacher who criticized President Bush, capitalism and U.S. foreign policy during his geography class was placed on administrative leave Wednesday afternoon after a student who recorded the session went public with the tape," reports the Denver Post:

In the 20-minute recording, made on an MP3 player, teacher Jay Bennish described capitalism as a system "at odds with human rights." He also said there were "eerie similarities" between what Bush said during his Jan. 28 State of the Union address and "things that Adolf Hitler used to say."

The United States was "probably the single most violent nation on planet Earth," Bennish also said on the tape.

The Post has a copy of the recording here. Superintendent Monte Moses tells the paper that Bennish's one-sided rant appears to constitute "a breach of district policy," which "calls for both sides to be present . . . in the interest of intellectual discourse."

Cheers to sophomore Sean Allen for bringing the incident to light.

Default a letter from School district

I got a letter from my kids school district saying that if she was caught with her cell phone the phone would be confiscated and turned over to PD and would cost me $25 to get it back.
I wrote them a letter back and told them if they took my daughters phone without her or my permission that would be robery, (if she had it with her) and I would file charges with PD and retrive my phone .
I wrote it without signing it, I know how people are and they would take it out on her. School districts are there own little comunist state run by there dictator and everyone that crosses there way is to be crusified, F-um, Id file charges in a min. and if the PD wouldn't take the charge, Id go to the state and then the press stateing just who wouldn't follow the law.
That cell phone is for me to get a hold of her when I want to talk to her. And secondary for her to use.

Post They Have A Policy

If your cell phone goes off in class it is confiscated and will be returned after school is out.

I believe that is a fair policy. Cell phones should not be allowed to interrupt the educational process.

I just hate it when cell phones go off in wedding service or funeral service. If I had my way about it I'd collect them all and blow them to pieces. Too much technology out there.

Post That's Easy

Cell Phones go off and cause:

Interruption in the learning process in class.
Folks answer them while driving and have accidents.
Folks trying to have a meaningful conversation are interrupted
by a cell phone.

Cell infringe upon me and others - watches and billfolds don't make noises. People don't go around talking into their watches and billfolds unless they have some serious emotional problems.

I have a golf partner who has his cell phone with him all the time.
The crazy thing goes off and interrupts the golf swing and slows down play. At PGA events you aren't allowed to have your cell phone on. If it goes off you are asked to leave or have your cell phone confiscated.

Ron, if cell phones are returned in a timely fashion it isn't robbery. I believe schools should have the right to confiscate and return them if they are abused. If you want to get a hold of your daughter and its an emergency call the school. As Bob said, call in the middle of class time, that would be rude and ruin the educational process for others.

Blow up those cell phones we don't need them in a civilized society.

K.

Same way in court...If your cell phone rings, the bailiff takes it and you dont get it back until he does a report and puts it in the property room (2 to 3 days)
Watches and wallets arn't disrupting the class, but cell phones are. You taught classes as a fireman. Wouldnt it piss you off if cell phones started ringing as you were talking.
