I watched a PBS program last evening, titled "Somos Hispanos"... it comes on every week, sponsored by the local Community College where the regional PBS station is located.
Naturally, the program is intended to feature all things having to do with educating and improving the morale of "Hispanic" Americans.
I needed to watch it this week because my museum (me, in other words) have a show up about MEXICO: ART AND CIVILIZATION (public service oriented project)... and they had seen fit to drop by and get some footage for broadcast.
Anyhoo, one segment in their program last evening dealt with a visit "Somos Hispanos" had made with a fellow by the name of Ben Guttierez, an old Vet who runs a company out of Ann Arbor called, "Ben Guttierez Industries."
Turns out that old Ben has devoted the wall space in his Board Room to featuring well-framed photographs and narrative descriptions about every single Hispanic person who has ever earned the MOH in all American wars. Noble intent, I'd say.
But then, at one point, old Ben stated something like the following, which I would like to draw attention to apropos of this thread:
"What everyone needs to remember is that every Hispanic who ever got the Medal of Honor had to give [and I quote] TWICE AS MUCH as anyone else."
Really?
As much as that, eh... so, I reckon it means the Hispanics shoulda gotten TWO MOH each? Or, should America create a special new medal, for those who give "twice as much"?
See what I mean, Earl?
Allow me to rephrase, "It costs everything, to be a patriot."
Any further questions or quips?
