It is an honor to appear before you today to discuss the state of U.S biodefense ten years after letters containing Bacillus anthracis or “anthrax” killed five people and sickened seventeen others and to report on the biodefense portfolio within the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T).
