![]() A friend loaned me this book . Doug Peacock, a Vietnam vet, has written an excellent book on the North American grizzly bear .An interesting way to get over a war .With Vietnam flashbacks but a heck of a lot of naturalist observations in the Rocky Mountains. Fascinating book .
I recommend this book . |

![]() Peacock seems to have been one tough old boy .Humped what he figured was a hundred pounds of gear into the back country usually in April and came out 6 months or so later . Seemed to live on trout , jerky and granola .
He healed up back there in the boon docks and is a heck of a good writer.Since I live in Wyoming myself I have a fair idea of the country and how tough he was.Sounds like he was on short rations a good deal . |
