Is anyone preparing in any way for planting a garden? Does anyone start with seeds?

Bern
Use seeds on everything but the tomato and pepper plants.....Havn't bought a tomato plant in years. Everything left in the garden after the first frost goes in the mulch bin and every spring I get some great tomato plants popping up for transplant.

Bern,
Yes. Pumpkin, tomato, pepper, squash, peas... the works. All from seed. Start them indoors in a cup and transplant them as they get bigger and after the "last" frost. Potatoes, just toss one in the ground, hill it up and keep the bugs off them.

Bob,
Does the compost keep the tomato "junk" warm enough to last the winter?

Steve
I usually turn the mulch pile over before the heavy freeze and in the spring there are at least 6 to 8 good tomato plants which are transplanted around the middle of May.
