But What Have We Really Learned
12-2-2017
As we rapidly approach the 76th Anniversary of “That Date That Will Live in Infamy” (7 December 1941), the old saying “How Soon We Forget” again comes flooding back into my rapidly aging mind! And although just a baby of some 15 months at the time of the actual attack against “Pearl Harbor”, what was to take place over the ensuing four years would mar in blood the pages of world history for all times to come! “But what, if anything, have we managed to learn in the 76 years since that historic, though tragic date in human history, and was this yet another “War To End All Wars – NOT HARDLY!” For that matter, will any war ever be the last, at least for as long as mankind manages to exists upon the face of this relatively minor speck of cosmic debris - “I Doubt It?” For like most other species of life, we have, and may continue to make war against each other, until (unfortunately) we too are no more! “And this too, is often a matter of choice, and not an unyielding necessity?” So what exactly have we learned in the last 76 years, save for the fact that life itself is often dirt cheap, just as long as that life belonged to someone else? And no matter what age of humanity, from biblical times to the present, someone, somewhere, has always attempted to prove that he was tougher, better armed, or even more maniacal than his neighbors, just across “The Big Pond!” Good Luck and Have a Happy New Year, “I HOPE!” Hardcore
