Thinking What They Want You To Think

“The time was, when a person was entitled to think and to reason for themselves?” And naturally, there was still a cornucopia of data and contradictory material out there to analyze and to draw your own conclusions about - but the bottom line was yours and yours alone! And people did not (normally) talk down to others back then nor did they insult, get smug with or even heckle anyone who disagreed with them! They reasoned it out, listened to both sides of any given argument and at least came away with an understanding (if not an appreciation) of the other guy’s point of view!

Timidity, and even the fear to offend, however, has now taken-over the art of intelligent-discussion and conversation! And the pure numbers of one’s allies, group-illogic and even disrespectful conversation and volume alone, now dominates the purely political midway of verbal intercourse, in my opinion - and more is the crying shame!

As even to express a contrary opinion these days, can elicit a hostile response, a snide reaction or even an unwarranted display of physical force? Which in effect, proves nothing at all, save for who has the bigger mouth, more hostility or even a bigger stick?

And like it or not, the victor in most arguments these days is rarely the person who displays the most logic or rationale, but rather, it is the person (or group there-of) with the most ever-obedient toadies behind them! Or even the most fools standing at the ready, who are eager to swear to any lie (or vested agenda) that is pushed down their throats by their political lords and task masters!

And “The Freedom of Speech or the Right to Harbor Ones Own Thoughts and Viewpoints” is quickly becoming “Persona Non Grata” within today’s one-sided society! And this (at least in my own opinion again) is ‘NOT’ what “Our Founding Fathers” had in mind – “Some Two-Hundred and Forty-Seven Years Ago?!”
