Religious Wars

Even Christianity, which is basically non-violent when following the principles of Christ has been the center of some religious wars. Yet, it usually isn't religion, it really is all about power and greed and religion is used as a motivator.

Though: Islam is a religion birthed in violence and a promoter of violence.
