Drive Train?

Registered to :Aug 22, 2001 Messages :100 From :Baton Rouge, LA USA Posted 26-10-2001 at 11:28 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was looking in the Gallery at some pictures submitted by GerogeP. There are some nice pictures of a Panzer IV and a Sexton. I was noticing that the drive gear is on the front of both of them. Does anybody know the advantage of the front wheel drive? Is there an advantage of a front drive pulling the track over the top rather than a rear drive pulling it under the bottom? chilidog |

Well with a front driven track the real big advantage is the engine would be up front also. That means extra armor protection from armor piercing shells. I believe the Israelis have a tank with the engine up front in service now. ...Mark
