That's alright if you don't know anything. No one else here does either...
You will also hear stories about how they were not allowed to put more than 17
rounds in a 20 round magazine (even though the magazine was specifically
designed for 20 rounds) and that they were not allowed to fire an automatic
weapon on automatic...

Is it any wonder we lost the war?

It would be a challege to shoot 3 round bursts in the most ideal situations with
an M-16, but in combat we fired our rifles as the need arised - if we wanted to
live...

I could never manage to fire less than 2 rounds with the M-16 while it was
switched on auto regardless of the situation...

One method was to make the second round loaded into the magazine a
tracer (that would make it the next to the last round out in firing
order). When you saw that tracer zip out through there you knew you had
an empty magazine and a live round in the chamber. All you had to do
was drop the empty mag out, slap a new in and keep on firing without
having to manually chamber a new round.

Now, some dudes found it helpfull, some didn't. Is that what you were
inquiring about?
