Which Senator Doesn't Support the Troops?
In August, after Sen. Fritz Hollings announced his retirement, panelists on CNN's "Capital Gang"--all but Robert Novak--lavished praise on the South Carolina Democrat. Especially fulsome were the words of Mark Shields, who lauded Hollings as "a great patriot."

Blogress Emily Cochran notes that the U.S. Senate yesterday passed an amendment "to commend the Armed Forces of the United States in the War on Terrorism." The vote was 98-1. Florida's Sen. Bob Graham was traveling and did not vote. The lone vote against commending the troops was cast by that great patriot, Fritz Hollings.

Try to influence his policy for change but SUPPORT OUR CITIZEN SOLDIERS AND CAREER MILITARY IN THEIR MISSION. Make their efforts appreciated.

Well, any veteran who was stationed overseas in 1986 wouldn't ever forget Ole Fritz he was one of the three Senators to author the famous GramRudman-Hollings act that froze overseas asignments and troops who thought they would be rotated out were involentarily extended for a year or more in overseas assignments.Many a military family was caught up in this fiasco.
